I've tried SO many of the tan lotions, and the only one that actually does what it says it will do is the Jergen's Natural Glow. You put it on after exfoliating your skin and it gradually gets darker and darker. The good thing about it is that it seems to actually color your skin, not just ';paint'; it. That's why you put it on everyday, to color your skin darker. The bad thing about it is, for me, the first layer always washes off. =/
But yeah.
Oh, do NOT get the Banana Boat kind! DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT!
